La Condamine

La Condamine is another old district in Monaco. It is well knows for its wide harbour, Port Hercule. The name comes from the Middle Ages and means 'cultivable land' at the foot of a village or castle.
One of the landmarks in La Condamine is Sainte-Dévote Chapel.

Sainte-Dévote Chapel
This Chapel is dedicated to Saint Devota, the patron saint of Monaco. The chapel was fiorst mentioned in archived documents dated 1070. The Chapel became a parish church in 1887.
In Monegasque tradition, the bride of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco lays her bridal bouquet at the chapel after the wedding ceremony.
